The backbone of Dr. Hershey's practice is a very gentle style of adjusting that was promoted by Dr. Richard Van Rumpt, DC. Dr. Van Rumpt developed this style for chiropractors in the 1920s in California. Dr. Hershey's version is quite similar to Dr. Van Rumpt's Non-Force Technique. Dr. Hershey performs a hands-on style of adjusting. Her adjustment gets its power from its thoroughness and specificity.
She adjusts bones, ligaments, muscles, and discs when they need attention. There is no abrupt impulse into your flesh. Dr. Hershey's adjustment is a gently vibratory unbending of her elbow. She can get away with such a gentle action because of the specific location, direction, and care taken in applying the adjusting pressure to the body. Dr. Hershey uses no more pressure to attain a correction than would be comfortably applied to a closed eye.
There is currently a list of chiropractors with permission to use the DNFT acronym to promote their practices. Dr. Hershey is not on that list. Another wonderful facet of Dr. Hershey's adjusting style, aside from the gentility, is the ability to check the adjustment.
